Blessed to be a Blessing!
I was blessed to be selected as an Emerging Designer at Oklahoma City Fashion Week on Saturday, April 20, 2013. It was an awesome and humbling experience.
Because of that experience I have met and developed relationships with so many wonderful people. One of those people is Laura Robinson, owner of Mark 541 (www.fivefourtyone.blogspot.com), (www.mark541.com). I have been in contact with her for a few days requesting copies of the pictures that she took at the event. The two pictures posted are two of the pictures that she shot of my looks on the runway.
I am hoping and praying that I can feature her as a guest blogger in the coming days or weeks. Stay posted so you can learn about this woman, her business and her love for the Lord. I am blessed to know that the Lord is leading me to develop relationships with people in the industry that are led by the spirit and God fearing. She is blessed and has been a blessing to me. I believe God is going to enlarge her territory because of her obedience and faithfulness.
As you sow blessings to others it opens your life to be blessed by God. So, if you are blessed, be a blessing. Do it with a open heart with no expectations and see how God rewards you! Smooches!

Oklahoma Fashion Week 2013
I just arrived home yesterday after experiencing the most amazing weekend ever. I presented my crochet at the first annual Oklahoma Fashion Week 2013. I was sooo emotional the month prior to the weekend. I was a nervous wreck and worried about how people would perceive my looks. The response was overwhelmingly great and now I am inspired to begin creating new designs and participating in other events that will showcase my designs and let them be seen.
The entire experience was new, exciting and exhausting from creating the looks, making sure that I had all of the necessary items such as logo, business cards, updated website, personalized invoices, airplane tickets, linings for mydresses, and accessories. Once I was there I was responsible for selecting models, fitting the garments, choosing the right accessories, and doing rehersals with and without the garments.

Better to Give . . . .

I am sooo excited! Today was my first Lovepetals Crochet Giveaway! The winner was Tamiko Jackson. She has been given the choice of three (3) different bags/purses to choose from. She hasnt decided but when she does I will post the decision and maybe a picture of her holding the bag!
I have been reading alot of blogs and sites on Etsy regarding boosting sales and getting more traffic to your website. I am very interested in doing that but I would like to also have fun along the way! I love to crochet and I dont want to lose that love getting caught up in sales and the lack thereof. I believe that when the time is right I will get the sales/recognition that I deserve (or at least believe that I deserve)!
This has been a week of change, discovery, surrender and cheer! I have implemented some changes in my lifestyle, thinking and daily practices. They have freed me, brought me happiness, made me realize that change is good and holding on to anger, self doubt, bitterness and things do not bring you happiness or success. So, my suggestion to those who may read my blog is to open your heart, forgive, give to others, make a needed change, surrender to God and see things change for the better.
"But see first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" Matthew 6:33
Thanks for stopping by and if you dont have anything to give . . . share a smile! Love ya.

Joy and Pain!
www.bannerpaperscissors.etsy.com) because I added one of her items to my treasury. We started talking and bonded. She felt compassion for my grief and mailed me a free banner to bring my happy back and make me smile! (which I did). The second person saw my crocheted items and extended an invitation for me to participate in a craft fair. I told her that I was just thinking of giving up and she shared a sermon excerpt with me that spoke about gifts from God and being patient and not giving up. This inspired me because people dont usually share their faith with friends and family let alone a stranger! I have had a few friends throughout the years but these two ladies have encouraged me in ways they will NEVER know! I am sooo grateful.Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Out of your comfort zone!
I don't know how I came to crochet clothing. I took a crochet class after school in elementary school. I stopped as I got older. I began crocheting again while recovering from a car accident. I never knew that it would become a way of life. It would calm me. It would make me move beyond my limits. . . out of my comfort zone.
I begin projects, get bored, start something new, and go back to the original piece I was working on. I have to feel what I am making. The yarn tells me what to create. If I begin a piece and it doesn't fall into place. . . I take it apart and begin again. It frustrates me sometimes. . . but, the items take on a life of their own. They are each an individual creation. I have to accept that. I guess like each one of us are different and we must accept eachother.
I was reading about the Samaritan Woman today in my devotional time. The Jewish people had contempt for Samaritans. It was so intense that they would NOT travel through Samaria, even thoug it was the shortest route from Jerusalem to Galilee. Jesus knew this, and to be in Samaria was a scandalous thing! Yet, Jesus went out of His way to prove a point. Everyone is important to Him. We are all different, we all sin, and He loves all of us enough to get "out of His comfort zone" and meet us where we are!
I was just thinking that I take the time to design crochet clothing, I hand design each stitch with love and determination. I have a vision of how I would like it to look once it is completed. I am sure that God feels the same way about us. He took His time creating us, numbering the very hairs on our heads, "And even the very hairs of your head are al numbered (Matt 10:30)" mapping out a plan for our lives "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jermiah 29:11). " He loves us!
So, how about trying to step out of your comfort zone. . . be a witness for Him. . . . help someone in need. . . . attend a Sunday worship service. . . . spend a little time reading and/or studying His word. . . . I am more than sure that He will honor it - "But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well (Luke 12:31)".
