About Me

Hello, my name is Tracy Smith the owner and designer of Lovepetals Crochet.  We are a high end boutique that boasts innovative and modern fashion crochet designs for the quality lifestyle. We  specialize in making your fashion dreams come true!

I was born in Oklahoma City but have resided in Los Angeles, CA since the age of 6.  I am a mother of three and grandmother of two.  I began crocheting in elementary school and stopped in middle school.  I began again after seeing my sister taking crochet lessons while I was recovering from a car accident.  I did not know at the time that it was the beginning of a serious addiction and life line.

I am Certified as both a Crochet Instructor and a Sign Painter which I absolutely love to do!  But, I spend most of my free and waking time crocheting and hanging out with my children! I dabble in a lot of different creative areas, but I mostly crochet, it just calms me and makes me happy and peaceful.  When depressed or in a slump I visit various yarn stores and just walk around and feel the yarn.  It brightens my spirit. I can't explain it!

I am very passionate about style, texture, fit and I create every piece with those ideas in mind.  I don’t just crochet and knit, but feel every stitch.  As I begin creating a piece it begins as one thing and the yarn takes on a life of its own.  Many times I unravel and change the style while working.  It takes days, sometimes weeks, to create one piece.  I wont complete an item until I feel in my gut that the piece speaks to me.  Once I make them I fall in love with them and want to keep them all to myself!  I hope you see and feel it also!

I would like to also put to rest the bad reputation that crochet has had from its birth.  In the early years of crochet it was known as a poor mans craft and not comparable to knitting.  But that perception has changed in the past 10 years and brought the crochet, as well as knitting, to the forefront of the fashion industry.

I have recently learned to knit!  Look for cute knit fashions and crochet/knit combinations in the near future.  Learning to knit had been a desire for several years.  I finally decided to reinvent myself by adding another dimension to my designs.

I have been told that I should take a chance to see if others would love them as much as I do.  I hope you do, once youve had a chance to view them.

God Bless You!
